–C. Reed Shawn has been the best trainer that I’ve ever worked with. After losing 26 lbs a little over 6 years ago, I knew that I had to work out to get toned, and to keep the weight off. I’ve worked with several trainers on weight machines, with free weights, started running and playing soccer again, but it wasn’t until I started working out with Shawn two months ago that I started to see the results that I was looking for. I met Shawn at a fitness center where he was training my daughter. I liked what I saw. I liked the results that she was getting working out with Shawn. So I started training with him, attending his boot camp on Saturdays, and Total Body Impact on Monday evenings. In just two months my abs and core are much stronger, and flatter than they have been in years. And just in time for my daughters wedding…. I especially like it that Shawn is very personable, talks to you to find out what your personal goals are, and will work with you on a personal training plan to meet that goal. If you have limitations, he has the knowledge and patience to work with you to adjust for those limitations. His workouts are fun and he is always coming up new and interesting ways to accomplish a total body workout.

Shawn encourages us in our routine to challenge ourselves as we work out different areas of our body. He is very knowledgeable and educated in his exercise philosophy, and very approachable with any questions you might have. My story is probably like most; I was in bad shape and wanted a trainer. I may have looked like I was in shape because my diet only consisted of healthy foods and I attended the gym religiously. The problem was that I over worked out, spending two or more hours at the gym daily. My excessive exercising was paired with consuming an amount of calories that had sent my body into a starvation mode. The reality of my problem was apparent. I was tired, weak, and moody and had absolutely NO muscle. Shawn explained to me that this combination of diet and exercise was detrimental to achieving my fitness goals. This was why I was not getting the results that I wanted. I weighed 122 lbs with 17% body fat at 5"9. I looked emaciated. Shawn knew that someone like me could not just simply be told to eat more and to stop running so much. Instead he started with the psychological problem. He taught me and explained to me in depth the science behind the importance of nutrients for an athlete. With Shawn’s knowledge, guidance and training I can now eat more than a handful of food per day and I no longer spend a ridiculous amount of hours at the gym. Not only do I feel better and look better, my body fat percentage has dropped and I have gained muscle! Now I weigh 134lbs and hope to be in a fitness competition someday! Shawn’s training is both challenging and fun. He combines weight training, resistance training and cardio. He has taught me how to balance each aspect of training in order to achieve my results. Shawn’s program includes strict monitoring of my diet so that I am able to track my calorie consumption. Shawn holds me accountable for the calories that I consume. His program is modified based on the accountability. This program is amazing because I’m not working out with a trainer that has a set program regardless of what I am doing in my life. This program is successful because he incorporates lifestyle changes that go beyond the gym. I have struggled with my perception of what I thought was beautiful and with what I thought was healthy. In this struggle I had become incredibly unhealthy. Shawn’s training has helped me to develop a positive perception of myself and has changed my life.
